Mission & Purpose

Mission: We create a vibrant and welcoming Downtown that celebrates our historic charm, supports local businesses, and connects our community.

Purpose: The DDA Facade Grant Program helps businesses invest in exterior improvements that make St. Marys more beautiful, inviting, and vibrant.

• Location: Buildings must be within DDA Boundaries.
• Visible Facades: Improvements must face streets, parking, or recreational spaces.
• Compliance: Must comply with zoning, building codes, and City of St. Marys design standards.
• Standing: Applicants must not be delinquent on local taxes, fees, or fines.
• Tenants: At least 75% of lease must remain; building owner must sign application.

• Matching: DDA may contribute up to 50% of project costs.
• Maximum: The maximum contribution is $3,000 per project.
• Completion: Projects must be finished within six months of approval.
• Frequency: One approved grant per calendar year.
• Documents: Supporting docs must be submitted within 30 days of application.

Eligible Examples: Exterior painting, permanent lighting, signage hardware, structural stabilization, hardscapes (planters/benches), replacement windows/doors, and awnings.

Ineligible Examples: Anything not permanently affixed to the building or not visible from public areas, such as furniture or security systems.

The program is funded by local investments, community-supported events, and donations. This collaborative effort allows the community to continually improve the downtown area while partnering with local entrepreneurs.

1. Complete the application.
2. Meet with the Main Street Manager or a DDA Board Member for endorsement.
3. Endorsed applications are presented at the DDA Board Meeting for final approval.
4. Complete the project and notify the office.
5. Submit Before and After pictures to receive your grant check disbursement.
