Vietnam Patrol Boat PBR6881 Dedication & Welcome Home Ceremony Honors Local Veterans

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, the community gathered in a spirit of gratitude and remembrance as VFW Post 8385 hosted the Vietnam Patrol Boat Dedication Ceremony. Under the leadership of Post Commander Patsy Schrieber, this special event honored the courage and sacrifice of Vietnam Veterans while celebrating the dedication of a newly christened patrol boat.

In addition to the dedication, the morning featured a moving Welcome Home Ceremony that recognized 38 local Vietnam Veterans. Each veteran was presented with a certificate and a commemorative pin, offering a long-overdue gesture of appreciation for their service.

Distinguished guests included U.S. Representative Buddy Carter, who delivered inspiring remarks, thanking the veterans for their sacrifice and dedication to our country. Georgia VFW State Commander Joe Couch also addressed the attendees, offering heartfelt words of appreciation and encouragement to the honored veterans.

Following the formal ceremony, veterans and their families were invited to take rides on the newly christened patrol boat—creating lasting memories and symbolizing a continued bond of camaraderie and community support.

It was a day filled with reflection, pride, and unity—one that underscored the importance of honoring those who have served and ensuring that their contributions are never forgotten.
